Cynthia Kersey IISo few people really take the risk to live their dreams, play full out with passion & commitment, and create true impact and legacy during their time on the planet. Cynthia Kersey is definitely one of those rare individuals. Cynthia is the Chief Humanitarian Officer of the Unstoppable Foundation (https://unstoppablefoundation.org) whose mission is to ensure that every child on the planet receives access to the life-long gift of education. Just read that sentence a few times and stand in awe, right? That’s a mission worth getting out of bed for each morning!

You can imagine how honored I was when Cynthia invited me to be on the Host Committee of Advisors after she & I connected at a weekend learning intensive for coaches led by our mutual friend, Rich Litvin. At that event, in response to a challenge by Rich, the group was able to pull together enough money to sponsor TWO villages (over 700 people) through Cynthia’s Unstoppable Foundation.

Where does a mission like this begin? After college Cynthia was hired by Sprint Communications and quickly climbed the ranks, becoming very successful professionally and financially. However, what really inspired her, and fueled her entire life with passion, was the idea of being a person who was unstoppable, who did something truly AMAZING with her life. So she quit her job, cashed in her life savings, and downsized her life to write her first book, “Unstoppable.”

Next, she decided she would build 100 houses in Nepal. Not knowing how to raise the money she would need ($200,000), Cynthia reached out to some great mentors to ask for help. One of them—Bob Proctor, an author and early pioneer at the forefront of the personal development movement, —kept it super simple and told her to call 10 people and ask them to contribute $20,000 each. Quickly earning her chops as a high achiever, Cynthia immediately asked him if Bob himself would be the first. (Of course, he agreed.) One person at a time, she raised the necessary funding, and the next holiday season she took 18 people to Nepal to build the first 3 houses.

I shared with Cynthia recently that as I listened to Elizabeth Gilbert at an Oprah event, I realized that they both had hit “reset”. They had determined how to take a journey that was bigger than themselves and then lived into that plan with every fiber of their being. (In fact, Oprah herself did that by ending one of the most successful television shows of all time, choosing to instead launch her own network – OWN.)

So what does it mean to be “unstoppable”? In fact, it’s not a super-human feat. It’s deciding what’s important to you, and then not letting other people, things or circumstances stop you in your mission to achieve our goals. It’s the little steps you take consistently that are important, wrapped in enormous courage and enlightened mentorship – like what Bob Proctor did for Cynthia. You need to surrender to your strong calling, set your intention, and be bold enough to ask for the support you need; that’s when the Universe steps in to co-create with you — miracles come to life.

The “Sponsor a Village” program through the Unstoppable Foundation provides clean water, growing food, education, sanitation, and healthcare; all that a motivated village needs to be self-sustaining. It takes $25,000 to support 350 people in a village. Families, businesses and organizations can all be sponsors. If YOU want to help sponsor an Unstoppable mission, please visit: https://unstoppablefoundation.org/get-involved/.  And consider attending or being a sponsor at the annual Unstoppable Fundraiser Gala for the Foundation, which takes places in Los Angeles on March 19, 2016.
